Baby, it will all soon come to an end

The Honorary Title - Bridge and Tunnel

Jarrod Gorbel is amazing. His earlier stuff with his band Honorary Title sounds younger but it's still worth listening to. Reminds me of Oasis.

Show me the right way to go.

Coldplay - Spies

Coldplay has become one of my favourite bands within an extremely short period of time. Like, within a week? Amazing. I used to be one of those people who were all "Coldplay? Ugh. Next song please", but now after actually sitting my butt down to listen to them, I find their music extremely enchanting. Everything just flows so effortlessly. His voice is so smooth and distinctly Chris Martin that only Coldplay can play Coldplay songs. Nobody could cover them better. Plus, they write really good lyrics. And you know how I feel about lyrics. They matter. Hella lot.

Coldplay - Sparks

BTW does anyone agree with me that their first album is the best? Really, really good stuff here.

You've done nothing at all to make me love you less.

Barcelona - Come Back When You Can

Piano based bands should get more credit for their work. I mean, come on, compared to all the autotuned stuff we get on the radio? These bands actually write their own stuff and play instruments. Not many artists do that nowadays. Invasion of the computer mixers. And Black Eyed Peas. Not forgetting T-Pain. Eheh.

Bang you're dead dead, alouette, here's your silhouette.

Mark Ronson - Bang Bang Bang

I love this guy! Post-modern funk infused with R&B, pop, big band and whatever sounds good. I've heard this song a really long time ago and have always wanted to download it. But I didn't know who sang it or what was the title of the song. I only knew the 'bang bang'. So I Youtubed and tada! I should've known Mark Ronson was the genius behind this. Found myself tapping to the beat a few seconds into the song.

Mark Ronson feat. Amy Winehouse - Valerie

Found this great remix. I sense a Jamaican vibe. Nice.

Ghostface Killah, Nate Dogg & Mark Ronson - Ooh Wee

And this is my favourite! Love the clinking glasses in the background. And the synth bass is cool. Listen now. Please and thankyou (:

I know we can't slow down; we can't hold back.

Cage the Elephant - Ain't No Rest For The Wicked

The guitar is friggin' sick in this one. Kinky but it has a certain funky edge to it which makes me love it even more. It's so alternative it doesn't even belong in the category. And I quote a fellow Youtuber's comment,

'Cage the Elephant has somehow crossed four genres and made their music badass'.

Your smile is a beautiful lie.

Edward Maya & Vika Jigulina - Stereo Love

Great song. Clubs will definitely still be playing this ten, maybe even twenty years from now. There's another version with Mia Martina but I prefer the bass in this one. Loud like Boomz.

She is love, and she is all I need.

Parachute - She Is Love

They've been around for quite sometime now. Got their album when it first came out and I must say it's pretty good. Mellow, but not too mellow till you feel like you're high or something. Aha. Lyrics to me, are just as important as the music (but I'm aware the general public are into songs about explosive devices and partying? so what's up with that) Anyway, these guys get everything right, down to their choice of words.

Parachute - Under Control

And here's something a little more uplifting.
How do you even slap a mannequin? ;)

And I can tell just what you want.

Two Door Cinema Club - What You Know

That guitar hook is just so addictive. Great song to keep you on your feet. And the live version's as awesome as I expected it to be. Did I mention I absolutely love TDCC? Those French people sure can sing huh. Great that they're finally getting the recognition they deserve. I mean, I can't stand some people who hate indie bands who get noticed and become more popular. Then you're not real fans, are you? Don't you want them to achieve something with their music, at least? Good for them, I say.

Such a pretty house and such a pretty garden.

Radiohead - No Surprises

Listening to this song helps me sleep better. No kidding. That melody in the background has this odd, calming effect on me. Raw, non-autotuned and simple. Radiohead's in a league of its own; they can't be put into any particular genre, can they? Alternative? Not exactly. They make music that no one else could copy, or even manage to copy. Sure, Paramore unintentionally came out with their hit 'The Only Exception' which sounded very similar to No Surprises. But. That's been playing on the radio for months and I got sick of it in a week. I mean, Radiohead's probably one of the most influential around and yet, they have managed to make music that's not boring or forgettable.

How I first heard of Radiohead.
Believe it or not, I first heard one of their less popular songs in How I Met Your Mother. This is the best video I could find of the song. Acoustic performances always give me the chills. And Thom Yorke is simply amazing live.

Radiohead - Nice Dream

Isn't it crazy; How life slips right into your life

Stars Go Dim - Crazy

Oh my, this song is just too good. And to think it's already been two (almost three) years since it was first released. The best songs always go unnoticed, don't they?

The live version's just as good.

Just a voice like a riot; Rocking every revision

Linkin Park - Waiting For The End

I know their latest offering, A Thousand Suns, has received a lot of bad reviews but hey, this song is hella good. Kinda different from their usual style, but with a good beat and lyrics, you can never go wrong.

What was left when that fire was gone?
I thought it felt right but that right was wrong
All caught up in the eye of the storm
And trying to figure out what it's like moving on
And i don't even know what kind of things I've said
My mouth kept moving and my mind went dead
So, picking up the pieces, now where to begin?
The hardest part of ending Is starting again

Don't Ever Look Back.

The Rescues - Teenage Dream

Gosh. THIS just gave so much more depth to an otherwise extremely shallow (oops) song. I'm just sayin'.
Credits to StephPhang for the intro!

Take a bite of my heart tonight.

Neon Trees - Animal

I know most of you have probably heard this song before, but I'm just gonna put it up anyway 'cause my blog needs Neon Trees. Period.
Female drummer for the win.

Wake up, kids!

New Radicals - Mother We Just Can't Get Enough

I realise I've been drowning myself in depressing songs lately. Wasn't exactly good for my system. Thank god I found an antidote.

They're the band who gave us this gem of a song.

New Radicals - You Get What You Give

The ultimate 'shout till your lungs come out' song.
I'm feeling so much better now ;)

Metric-ulous.

Metric - Gold Guns Girls

I remember when we were gambling to win
Everybody else said better luck next time
I don't wanna bend like the bad girls bend
I just wanna be your friend, is it ever gonna be enough?

Metric - Sick Muse

Watch out, Cupid stuck me with a sickness
Pull your little arrows out and let me live my life
The one I better lead, all the blinds are fantasies

Metric - Help, I'm Alive

Help, I'm alive, my heart keeps beating like a hammer
Hard to be soft, tough to be tender
Come take my pulse, the pace is on a runaway train

Metric - Gimme Sympathy

Don't go, stay with the all-unknown
Stay away from the hooks
All the chances we took
We're so close to something better left unknown
We're so close to something better left unknown

So what if they've appeared on the soundtrack of Twilight. They were already hella good before that.

I'll always be waiting for you.

Coldplay - Shiver

Hauntingly beautiful.
Man they looked so young in this video. Think it was taken off one of their earlier albums, in 2005? Heard it first on Guitar Hero. Since then, it's been on my daily playlist.

I've got to tell you my tale; Of how I loved and how I failed.

The Verve - History

One of the most touching and thought-provoking songs I've ever heard. Lyrics are deep and so filled with emotion that it's pretty likely frontman Richard Ashcroft had experienced some sort of heartbreak when he wrote this. Backed by those lovely, lovely violins, this song would definitely serve as a good heart mender ;)

Something inside has died and I can't hide

Carole King - It's Too Late

Used to listen to her in my parents' car all the time. Great music to heal the soul. Now this is what the world needs more of. Not booze and techno music.

Interpol - Obstacle 1

Great song. Reminds me of The White Stripes. They're an indie rock band from New York. Sweet.

Death Cab For Cutie - Your Heart Is An Empty Room.

I always thought they were some heavy metal band. Haha. I mean, with a name like that? I really should stop judging bands based on their names.
I just love this kind of mellow rock music which makes you listen and wonder.

Devlin feat. Yasmin - Runaway

Good song. And I'm not even a fan of rap.

I gotta leave, I gotta go,
there’s nothing here for me no more
I gotta be free, I gotta be
somewhere that I can just be me.
and I run run runaway, run run runaway,
run run runaway, I runaway.

Instrumental.

Claire de Lune by Debussy. Gosh, what a great piece this is. I have never really taken a liking for classical music, but this one just got me hooked. Sad songs make my day. Oh, the irony.
